Objection

This is a very sad day for Buxton when the plans submitted say nothing about the town and are nothing akin to the Spa town heritage. It looks like any other modern development in any other city across the country - pick one, they all look the same. Done to suit costing rather than truly consulting with the local people. Buxton has a certain charm which attracts many people for certain reasons, I believe this development will blow all that charm away, and we can kiss goodbye to the revenue that brings to Buxton from Tourism. I think the millions and millions to be invested would be much better suited for renovating what we already have in place, rather than pulling it all down completely,. We've lots of old, beautiful buildings, part of our history that should be looked after and preserved, and needs a cash injection to do so. I have been following this development and from the initial plans, to the interim to the now submitted plans, we have not been lisented to. It is quite simply GHASTLY! I live a 10 minute drive away, and it would certainly put me off continuing to visit and spend my money locally. Sorry - it's sad, but I would have to consider I might rather go over to Leek or Macclessfield, towns that have charm of their own. It is not what people want, and that is without going into the loss of parking spaces, and lack of afforable homes, I ask for who? The plans seem to include land that doesn't belong to the springs to? But regardless of this and the lack of listening to our views, this is NOT Buxton, we don't want Buxton to look like a developer's copy and paste doodleboard, we want it to say SPA TOWN, there is so much scope for imagination there if they wanted to, but again, as previously mentioned, carbon copy of everywhere else. Strongly object, this needs to go back to the drawing board - quite literally, scrap the plans and start again after actually listening to local people and their ideas.
