I strongly object to this planning application. Residents were led to believe that this project was about regenerating and improving our town centre, not introducing more than 300 new flats. This scale of residential development changes the nature of the proposal entirely and raises serious concerns about the long-term impact on our community. The proposal does not appear to provide sufficient parking for the number of new homes. This will inevitably increase pressure on existing parking, making it more difficult for residents, visitors and local businesses. Overflow parking on surrounding streets will create congestion and inconvenience for everyone. I am also concerned about the impact on tourism and the local economy. Visitors are vital to the success of our town, and reducing parking availability and increasing congestion will discourage people from visiting. Local shops, cafés and attractions depend on visitors, and this development risks damaging the very town centre it claims to regenerate. Regeneration should enhance the town while protecting its character and supporting existing residents and businesses. This proposal appears to prioritise high-density housing without adequately addressing the supporting infrastructure or considering the wider impact on the community. For these reasons, I urge the planning authority to refuse this application or require significant changes to ensure the development is genuinely in the best interests of the town and its residents.
