I'd like to object due to the visual appearance of the new buildings in the designs submitted. For an old spa town, in the central business area no less, I would have hoped for a visual style that was in keeping with the surrounding historic buildings (Town Hall, The Crescent, The Green Man Art Gallery, and Buxton Opera House, to name a few). The area the development is planned for seems to be envisioned as a nicer, more official entrance to the town from the train station, and as such I believe C&C have identified it as having the opportunity to show people visiting `what Buxton is all about`. However, upon seeing the designs submitted, I see close to nothing in keeping with that. The visual style of the buildings comes across as a clone of C&Cs other projects in Manchester and Sheffield. Sharp juttng buildings and streets, with bland metal frames all over. No noticeable influence from the Georgian architecture that actually makes Buxton stand out. I think going ahead with this application with it's current plan would be to miss the opportunity to do something much better and dignifying to the town, and it would fail to provide any unique draw to people looking for a place to visit. I've heard people make other good complaints which I would agree with as well, but the lack of care for maintaining Buxton's visual style is the single most egregious issue to me.
