Objection

I absolutely detest the proposal by Capital and centric. Buxton is a small, quaint town with lots of charm and plenty of tourism as it stands already. Visits to the town are dictated by weather, not by our town centre which does not require this level of development. Parking is already limited, and for those of us who have children or disabilities moving it further away is causing more difficulties for residents than anyone else. I have seen the plans and they are more focused on providing rental accommodation than a working town centre for shops and businesses - something we don't have the infrastructure to support with doctors, schools, nurseries or medical facilities! I have visited capital and centric locations already built; such as those in Stockport and Manchester. They are truly ugly, overbearing and unnecessary designs that take years of disruption to put in place and are entirely lacklustre when completed. They look so commercially offensive and would not be befittng of our Victorian architecture at all. This has been put in place to serve the bottom line of companies who do not live here and do not understand what it is to live in Buxton. Our roads become gridlocked enough as it is - are we really going to push ahead on works that will cause endless problems for our road networks and the people who live here, just for an ugly and pointless redesign of our centre which is a thinly veiled attempt at sticking hundreds of flats in a commercial location to feed somebody else's pocket while causing distress to people who just want to conveniently nip into town for a few minutes to pick up their essentials. What we REALLY need if anyone bothered to ask, is more parking closer to the shops we already have, existing buildings such as the Bulls Head, Buckingham and Grove hotel to be brought back to life - Scrap the lot and put that budget somewhere that actually benefits the people and not themselves.
