After viewing the plans and designs I object to the 70's 'concrete' tower appearance of many of the housing blocks. They all look way out of character for a small historic spar town and more akin to the monstrosities seen in cities of the 1970's. Today Buxton actually features a brilliant blend of both Georgian and Victorian architecture, alongside a few magnificent Edwardian landmarks, as such the proposed 'rental housing architecture is just not in keeping with the elegant style of the existing town excluding the existing also out of character Springs development. Furthermore there appears to be double standards applied here to planning aesthetics. The new McCarthy and Stone building which is built to compliment the existing town character and the low level and stone used for McDonalds does fit in more with the local tradition. The apartments proposed are just the opposite and they look like inner city medium high rise concrete structures, Totally unacceptable. Also consideration to elderly residents that use the Waitrose store for shopping also appears to have been ignored by reducing easy access parking for loading shopping to off site parking 300m away. This funding could have been better spent on improving the towns medical facilities with the reduction of almost all our hospitals and support services. Where are any plans and funds to keep and improve the towns emergency medical services without people having to travel to Stockport. My objection in summary is that the proposed designs are totally out of character and quite ugly while reducing easy access to shopping due to restricted parking.
