The new apartments look aesthetically alien to existing Buxton's historic character and more in keeping with and out of town shopping mall. The height of these towers means excessive shadows and loss of open air feeling and light which is especially important in a town. Access to parking for loading shopping has also been reduced and relocated to over 300m away which is also not considering elderly shoppers. Considering many shops on the high street are un occupied I fear this will also become a ghost town of rental apartments and not a thriving shopping centre with character. The heart and soul of the town is being torn out by this modern monstrosity of high rise 'flats' The design is totally out of character with a Georgian spar town feel. Even the new McCarthy & Stone and McDonalds are more in keeping than these city centric flats.
