I would like to object to the aesthetics and design of the 'blocks' which look more like 1970's flats from inner city Manchester and Bradford rather than a small historic spar town. I moved here to get away from the urban sprawl and concrete and slab looking buildings for a historic feel which you will help remove by the addition of these hideous rental blocks. There also is a reduction in accessible parking for shoppers of Waitrose to load their car when performing a larger shop, in favour of additional parking 300 -400m away ! Furthermore I am concerned about the shadows these higher rental blocks will cast on the walkways and open area's in what is already quite a dark town regards sunlight in the autumn and winter months. To be honest I find the new design quite oppressive and alien to the existing architecture and this should not be approved.
