Parking The planned reduction in parking spaces and potential positioning of replacement parking in land opposite the station is not acceptable and represents a significant downgrade in facilities for local residents and visitors to what is after all a tourist town reliant on visitors. The size of the development is too large and has too big an impact on accessible parking, where you do not need to cross a road. Listed building/conservation area The design of the buildings are not in keeping with the local spa town architecture and this kind of development would not be permitted if you attempted to do it at your own property. It creates an urban core to the town which detracts from its unique beauty. Layout and density of building There are too many buildings, too close together and they are too high. The development should be massively scaled back and not purely driven by capital & centric profit motive. Design appearance and materials Unfit for the location in the centre of a historic spa town. No use of local materials, stone or design elements that reflect the local vernacular. Disabled people's access There is a risk that this will be massively reduced due to reduction and relocation of parking spaces, which are further away and require crossing a busy road. Also the design itself which opens up access to the river Wye is inaccessible and unsafe with multiple steps down to the riverside. Buxton is a wet, snowy town and this area risks becoming a high falls and trips risk, due to icy, wet paving for much of the year. ________________________________
