I feel this planning application has not been given the correct consideration for what Buxton needs or is going to benefit from. Firstly to go from an original application for 75 residential dwellings to now 327 is going to have a far reaching impact on Buxton Town centre. There is not enough adequate parking as it is without these extra homes with probably a minimum of two cars per household. The road access has not been considered. In an already congested town the entry to the new development will only make matters worse. Our public transport system is well under what is needed for Buxton now so will certainly not cope with any additional pressure. The existing Businesses will be greatly impacted with the lack of parking spaces. There are 431 spaces currently which is not enough and the proposed spaces will be cut to 266. 120 of those are expected to be used by the new residents. This is just not going to be sustainable. The extra land being proposed is too far from the new shops and people will just go elsewhere having a massive impact on the economy of the town. No consideration has been given for the main Businesses there already that are the backbone of the town. Next & Newlook have not been offered suitable premises on the new development and could possibly relocate from the centre or even leave completely. Waitrose customers will not want to walk far with a shopping trolley full of items with the lack of local parking and therefore could have a negative effect on their business meaning they could leave the town too. All in all this application needs a big rethink about what is best for a Victorian Town like Buxton. We do not want to loose customers or Businesses just because this new proposed development is focused on residential properties.
