I don't agree that such a major development on this scale is necessary for Buxton. We don't need 300 plus residential homes in the middle of our town centre. The development itself will cause Buxton to be an ugly building site for too many years. Our businesses we have will suffer. I think visitors will be put off. We are a spa town and tourists visit our area for the old world appeal. If we transform our town to a more modern town people will just go elsewhere. The Springs shopping centre is perfectly adequate, there are many empty units, which if the rents were lower, we should be able to attract new shops. We will lose too much parking, which we need more than ever in this day and age. We need to keep Buxton in the character it is.
