I very strongly object to planning application HPK/2026/0228. The proposed buildings are shocking in there design and look to be more fit in Stockport or Macclesfeield thant in Buxton's historic core. Their appearance do not, in my view, respect the distinctive character of the town or sit comfortably with its heritage settng. Development in this area should respond positively to local character, and I do not believe this scheme does so. Also having the developers brand slapped all over building is just cheap and bring down the entire area I am also concerned about the wider context of changes affecting Buxton town centre. The disposal of important civic buildings has already caused public concern, and many residents see these places as part of Buxton's civic identity. In that context, proposals which further alter the relationship between public buildings, civic functions and private redevelopment risk undermining public confidence and raising questions about stewardship. The lack of packing for the new flats will be a real issue - this isnt central Manchester - you need a car. For these reasons, I ask that the application be refused.
