In relation to the Springs redevelopment application I would like to Object to this development on the following matters The design and character is totally not in keeping with the Georgian and Victorian streetscape and existing architecture and buildings, it represents a bulk of cheap housing crammed into a condensed area. The materials that are suggested to be used are poor and not in keeping and will cause harm to the adjacent conservation area. As a local living in the conservation area it is extremely hard to convince HPBC planners to allow a double glazed window let alone a development of such scale and poor design adjacent to one. I would hope that this is met with the same steadfast NO that everyone else gets asking for planning in the same area ! The Increased traffic and impact on the highways surrounding both during build and after will cause increased congestion. There is inadequate parking facility for visitors to the centre of the town and for residents living in the area, consideration should be given to local people as car ownership is vital here in the peak district and surrounding villages and hamlets rely on parking when coming to town to shop and visit amenities, I know of no one who travels to town on horseback, or walking or cycling to shop, commute to work or visit the amenities The proposed extra parking away from the development does nothing to repair the loss of town centre parking provision that exists. I also believe that this development is in contradiction of the adopted High Peak Borough Local Plan but this is for the planning board to bash through as this progresses. [Page 2] Buxton desperately needs investment but this I feel is not the answer something more in keeping with local look and feel that more emphasis on business and strengthening the retail offering. The housing development element is totally out of keeping and too dense a concentration of people to enhance the area unfortunately.
