Objection

I strongly object to the plans. Buxton needs sensitive refurbishment of it's beautiful pre existing buildings, and support to local businesses to encourage them to thrive. It does not need over 200 expensive cube shaped flats with basement parking and gyms, and a monstrous observation tower emblazoned with the design companies name. We already have a tower to see the beautiful spa town and surroundings, its called Solomon's Temple. Perhaps the architects need to spend more time here. This proposal will reduce parking, close local shops, and cause noise dust and disturbance for a long period of time, causing distress for locals who live in the town centre area. People will lose their jobs when the shops are demolished. More new residents will place a strain on already stretched local services. The design is ugly and modern and not in keeping with the town at all. HPBC have sold Buxton to the highest bidder and if this is approved then Buxton will turn into any other town centre up and down the UK. Glossop for example has blossomed by enhancing it's pre-existing buildings, and showcasing it's local independent businesses. They didn't plonk 200+ over priced private rental flats slap bang in the centre, with retail outlets that independent businesses won't be able to occupy due to their high cost. I can't believe the council have proposed these plans for Buxton. Please please do not allow this to happen. [Page 2]
