Objection

Significant Objection to Planning Application HPK/2026/0228 ' & HPK/2026/0229 ' Revitalising Buxton Development I do not believe this proposal is appropriate for such a historically important spa town. Buxton's unique identity is defined by its outstanding Victorian and Edwardian architecture, and I am seriously concerned that the proposed design fails to respect or complement this established character. The development risks undermining the architectural heritage and distinctive sense of place that makes Buxton special. I also have significant concerns about the proposed housing mix, particularly the large number of single-bedroom apartments. This does not appear to address the long-term needs of Buxton or support a thriving, balanced community. A development of this scale should help revitalise the town by encouraging economic growth, supporting shops, businesses, tourism and a vibrant town centre, rather than primarily creating a high volume of small apartments that may not deliver the wider benefits Buxton requires. I also have significant concerns regarding the adequacy of parking provision. A development of this scale is likely to create additional pressure on existing parking facilities and surrounding streets, resulting in increased congestion, disruption for residents, and potential highway safety issues. I believe this application does not adequately protect Buxton's historic character or provide sufficient supporting infrastructure. I respectfully urge the Local Planning Authority to refuse this application
