Looking at the projected drawing design I feel that It does not fit with the character and heritage of the town. While the planners argue that it will Improve the place I think we would lose some of the reasons why people choose to come to Buxton, both to retire and live as well as visit for the day. Opening up more of the river will invite more dropping of discarded rubbish and encourage rats nearer to peoples homes. The river is open at both ends of the town and there are rats seen in the park. They got very bold during covid. Losing parking spaces for housing will lead to problems and frustrations. Older people having to take their shopping further to their cars and uphill is inconsiderate and the local supermarket will loose footfall. And then the town would lose another valued shopping facility for food and household goods. Crossing the road from the car park will also hinder the flow of traffic. It is stop, start, stop , start along that road already. While modern looking buildings and designs might look good on paper, they too often become the slums of tomorrow and don't weather or wear well. If the rail line to Matlock was to be reinstated there would need to be some station facilities for passengers and it would be a good tourist attraction to bring people to town.
