I find it quite monstrous that in a conservation area where we have to ask planning permission for the slightest adjustment to our homes, the design of this development can be so out of keeping with our historic Town Centre - it looks like a pile of freight boxes stacked on top of each other. This development is more about lining developers pockets with the proceeds of cheap build accommodation than it is about improving our town centre. The planners should look to Bakewell for a sensitive & successful development of attractive shops and restaurants with significant improvements in the volume of parking - that encourages people to visit, stay and spend money - this Buxton proposal will have the opposite effect and impact on our town.
