Objection

I am strongly opposed to the proposed alterations to our town..the new buildings aren't in character with a spa town, it looks like a big ugly piece of concrete from the 1960 s. The new parking is much too far away to be practical, imagine wheeling your shopping trolley right over an already busy road, and one that will become even busier, when all the flats are occupied..also the demolition of the few shops that we have, will see an already depleted high street die completely. As for bars by the river, we must have more bars and cafes than any other town around, and being Buxton there aren't many chances to sit outside!!! ..the proposed works are going to take years, which means years of disruption for locals and visitors alike. We are a tourist town that no one will want to visit . Who in the council decided to use this company and why weren't we, who actually live here, asked whether we wanted these alterations or whether we would prefer the money to be spent on making our existing town look better ie, renewing paving slabs in Spring gardens ( terrible trip.hazards) overall clean of everything, doing up the museum and town hall, providing decent toilets and numerous other small but nessessary improvements. Please reconsider this decision and consider the local residents.
