My wife and I have very recently moved to Buxton. Its character and facilities were central to our decision. In particular, the range of shops in the Springs centre, notably Waitrose, Next and Holland and Barrett. To lose any or all of these would be extremely detrimental to the town and to us personally. Having used the Srpings car park several times now, it is always busy and to reduce the number of spaces seems obtuse, particularly when creating more housing. While it would be beneficial to regenerate this part of Buxton, it must be done sympathetically to the town and cognisant of the reality that the vast majority of new residents will need to drive for work and leisure. A sympathetic development would be wonderful, but not something that will cause a potentially large detrimental impact to the centre of Buxton.
