Objection

I am very opposed to just about all aspects of this development. The proposal is incredibly insensitive to the attractions of Buxton as a heritage destination. The planned development is urban but Buxton is rural, the proposal is modern mediocrity but Buxton exudes old world charm, uniqueness and character. The proposal is 'brutalist' and modern but, ironically, there is nothing new proposed; it is an anytown, anyplace, anywhere development. A more specific objection is the under-provision of car parking spaces - tourism is a major source of income to the town and is dependent on personal motor transport - this will not change in the foreseeable future and the increase in residential accommodation will add to the parking burden. Buxton's trump cards in the tourism stakes are it's heritage and it's rural settng, not shopping and drinking.
