Application Reference No. : HPK/2026/0229 Site Address: Spring Shopping Centre & Land South of Station Road Comments: I support the proposed commercial renovation of this historic building but strongly object to any residential conversion. Buxton would benefit from retaining and expanding commercial premises in the town centre. The town has lost much of its retail offer, and I believe this building should remain in commercial use rather than being converted into apartments. While I support commercial development, I do not support further cafés, as Buxton already has many, and I believe a wider range of retail and other businesses would better serve the town. This building has historically been used for commercial and service purposes, and I believe that use should be preserved. Converting part of it to residential accommodation would permanently reduce future commercial opportunities and would not be in the long-term interests of Buxton's town centre. For these reasons, I support the commercial renovation but object to any residential use.
