Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally object to the proposed Capital and Centric plans for Buxton town centre. While I appreciate the ambition to invest in and improve Buxton, I do not believe the current proposals are appropriate for a town with such a unique architectural and historical identity. Buxton is renowned for its stunning Georgian and Victorian buildings, which are a significant part of its character and appeal. Residents and visitors alike are drawn to the town because of its beautiful historic architecture, and I am concerned that the proposed new buildings are not in keeping with this heritage. Modern developments of this style risk detracting from the very qualities that make Buxton such a special place to live and visit. I am also concerned about the number of proposed rental properties. Buxton already experiences significant traffic congestion, with many residents finding it increasingly difficult to travel around the town due to the volume of vehicles. Introducing a large number of additional homes is likely to increase traffic and place further pressure on roads, parking, and local infrastructure, negatively affecting the quality of life for existing residents, including myself. I fully support the idea of investing in and renovating Buxton where improvements are needed. However, regeneration should enhance and protect the town's historic character rather than diminish it. Any new development should be sympathetic to Buxton's Georgian and Victorian architecture, using designs and materials that complement the existing streetscape. I therefore respectfully ask the Council to reconsider these proposals. I urge you to revise the plans so that they better reflect Buxton's architectural heritage and reduce the scale of the proposed residential development. By doing so, you can ensure that any regeneration preserves the unique character that has made Buxton a desirable place to live and a destination admired by visitors for generations.
