I do not consider it is a good idea to demolish part of the existing Spring Gardens shopping centre, if that means that the older buildings will be going, as they are part of the attraction of the town. More visitors need to be brought into to the town to boost retail income and jobs. Has anyone liaised with Bath & North East Somerset Council to learn how projects of this nature have been handled there, as Bath is a thriving Roman town and I feel that Buxton should have the same opportunities, with more independently owned retail outlets and any developments should be in keeping with the existing architecture. More emphasis should be placed on the Roman history of the town, again how has Bath handled this.
