I feel that the public have not been adequately consulted regarding this application. I went to the Octagon event and came away no wiser. All the developers have provided are fancy drawings which could be anywhere. Buxton is a historic town and the drawings look very modernistic. I am extremely worried that car parking will disappear from central Buxton and the much loved shops and stores that are presently in the Springs and Spring Gardens will disappear when people can no longer park anywhere near the shops. I believe there are plans for a new car park off Palace Road but there is no way on earth that I and many others could walk up there with loaded shopping bags. Underground parking will be provided but they are planning lots of flats so the parking spaces will be taken by the new residents. This was supposed to be a regeneration of the town center not a flat lovers paradise!
