Objection

Firstly, whilst the consultation on the 2025 proposal was on balance favourable, this 2026 proposal is a different animal altogether and public consultation seems to have been minimal. Now the proposal has: - far more accommodation with presumably even more pressure on car parking - greatly inferior building materials which are inappropriate for a central Buxton site - 4 and 5 story buildings which will dominate the centre - moving the library and town hall to the centre will probably never happen as it will be deemed more profitable to use the space for shops or accommodation I am also concerned as to how the building process will take place without losing lots of the shops. Some will presumably have to close during the building work but will they return? In the meantime, the shops available will be greatly reduced. If Waitrose jump ship, the future of the centre will be in real jeopardy. Presumably part of the current car park will be occupied by building materials and equipment, further reducing parking which was never sufficient. There is a mention of a possible additional car park behind the station but hardly convenient for shopping ' a long uphill walk with shopping bags is not going to encourage shopping at any time. And would it come into existence anyway.
