I object to the application for the following reasons: Generally the project would not be compatible with the present architecture of the town. The centre would become a generic clone of so many other towns in the country: it will lose its particular character and ambience; The project, if proceeded with, will cause a great deal of inconvenience and disturbance for towns people over many years; Car parking spaces, already inadequate, will be drastically reduced at a time when the town's population is increasing at pace; The huge sum of money envisaged to complete the project could be better used on cleaning up the town. Streets kept clean daily, Pavilion Gardens kept clean and the problem of out of control geese numbers, their droppings not only being unsightly but a definite health hazard, be sorted out; Town public toilets need increasing and those existing ones upgraded; Pavements need to be maintained properly: many paving stones in the town are broken or loose; Finally if, as it appears, the local council have money to spare it would be put to better use by upgrading facilities at the Cottage Hospital.
