We OBJECT to the Buxton Town Centre Planning Application by Capital and Centric on the following grounds: 1 It is a massive overdevelopment with the number of housing units increased from 74 to 332. 2 The car parking is a major reduction from the present 400 spaces. The access from Station Road would cause increased congestion . 3 The design of the buildings is not appropriate for Buxton, Many are 5 stories and would change the historic character of Buxton Town Centre. 4 The improved access from Buxton Station requires the use of a lift. This is not only bad design, but would be very unpopular with shoppers. 5 The building materials and designs with many flat roofs are just not good enough for the centre of Buxton Spa . 6 Overall, we are concerned that the proposed scheme would reduce the appeal of Buxton Town Centre, and would especially threaten the viability of Waitrose. This is the key anchor shop for Buxton Town Centre. ________________________________
