Application Reference No. : HPK/2026/0229 Site Address: Spring Shopping Centre & Land South of Station Road Comments: I object to this application because it has not demonstrated that adequate parking provision will be maintained. The proposals would remove approximately 422 centrally located parking spaces while replacing them with substantially fewer spaces. Buxton serves a large rural catchment area and attracts significant numbers of visitors throughout the year. Many residents, businesses, visitors, older people, and those with disabilities or mobility impairments rely on convenient, accessible town-centre parking. The loss of a substantial number of existing spaces, without guaranteed replacement, risks harming the town's accessibility, vitality, and local economy. The Council should not approve a development of this scale until replacement parking is fully approved, demonstrably deliverable, and available for use. To do otherwise would be premature and could result in a significant and potentially long-term shortfall in parking provision, contrary to the principles of sustainable development and sound planning. I believe that is unrealistic that the proposed new apartments will only have 1 car every other apartment. More like 2 cars per apartment.
