My first objection is for the loss of background views the town. The important historical buildings that the Town has, create a beautiful silhouette as you travel around the town at the Bridge Street and Station Road area. Not only the view of the buildings will be lost but the view of the hillsides too. They'll be replaced by view of crammed in, ugly, modern buildings almost creating a wall along Bridge Street and Station Road. There's not even a nod to the Georgian and Victorian era's that the town harnesses. Second objection is that I think the people of Buxton are being hoodwinked regarding the development bringing benefits to the existing residents. As far as can see the only things will be 2 public toilets and a lift up to the level of the Train Station. A huge reduction in car parking spaces is not a benefit to Buxton residents or business owners. Nothing short of a catastrophe in fact. On a hole, the whole scheme appears to be a land grab, enabling a large company to profit, while turning a sleepy town into a logistical nightmare for years while the work is undertaken. I'm all for change and developments of the right nature but this proposal needs a serious overhaul. I doubt that will happen though as that would result in a large reduction of profit. Capita and Centric need to have a conscientious rethink and put ethics before profit. They'll be welcomed with open arms then. Use some of the space for a small cinema, roller rink, bowling complex for the youth. Actually improve the town for it's current and future residents.
