Objection

I am objecting to this proposal on a number of points these being that this new set of plans appears to have morphed into something entirely different to the first proposal, it now appears to be a housing estate in the town centre surrounded by totally inappropriate steel and glass buildings in a Georgian spa town! this will not sit with existing architecture ie Georgian and Victorian buildings. The car parking is totally inadequate - there are times now when a parking space is not to be found so losing many existing places with a vague notion of maybe we can put in a car park near the station is ludicrous, (if this housing estate were to be built they are telling us there are not enough parking spaces for it ' this in itself is a major problem they seem to making light of because once they are done and the construction has moved on it will be our problem and not theirs!) how are older people, people with pushchairs and others with wheelchairs supposed to be able to use a car park that may or may not be built that distance away? Who are these young professionals who are going to take up residence in these flats? Where are they from - it is not the sort of housing that is required in Buxton so it will end up with all sorts of incomers some of which won't be bringing anything good to Buxton! We are a town that relies on visitors and after all the upheaval of the 5 or so years this will take during which time they intend to get rid of the existing car park first it will be a wonder if anyone comes to visit again - the loss of earnings for the shops and cafes already in existence will be enormous - there is little need for more eateries and coffee shops inside this monstrosity as we are already well served with those we have. Traffic is going to be affected gettng through the town when we have enough congestion as it is. This latest version of planning seems to only enrich the rent collectors from the housing which far exceeds the original numbers, the buildings designs are in no way going to fit in with existing architecture which is ridiculous as that is one of Buxton's greatest strengths and part of what makes Buxton unique, how does any of what is proposed in these plans help local people? In it's now current form it is a tragedy and a disaster waiting to happen. I suggest most Buxtonians (and I have spoken to many) are vehemently opposed to this latest version of the plans which need to be scraped and resubmitted with the idea that it will enhance Buxton and it's residents instead of making it a town where no one wishes to visit and that includes us locals.
