I feel this application is not sympathetic to the needs and character of Historic Buxton. Local residents rely on shopping in Spring Gardens and Waitrose. The car parking is essential for these shops to remain viable and the parking needs to be close to Waitrose. I use this facility several times a week and the car park is nearly always busy . The present arrangement works and the development suggested will not support the use of shops such as Waitrose which are vital to the centre of Buxton. There simply would not be enough parking space near to the shops. I am not against new houses in Buxton but to build over 300 residential properties in the heart of Buxton's centre would destroy its character. The parking required for these residencies would prevent local people from parking near to shops. You cannot walk far with a supermarket trolley. The development planned is not of a standard in keeping with Buxton's heritage and would destroy the town's character.
