I object on the grounds that too much unnecessary and expensive work is scheduled to be carried out, come on guy's aren't you supposed to be the ones with the vision, the innovation, the know how. What we want in Buxton is something original, not something that is like every other town in England, because every town has its own history, character and style. So lets have a go at something original, a traditional facade to all four compass points with nice stonework architectural features and nothing raised to heights much above the original surrounding buildings. If you can get the exterior in keeping with the rest of the existing town, I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity for a bit of modern artistic licence on the interior units fronts that can be easily changed as trends change. We don't need housing in a place of shopping and leisure, there are enough empty premises in Buxton and there will be more if the town hall staff and a police hub is to be accommodate in the centre, we can convert these and fill as and when they are needed. Because the people needed to fill these what are they to do all day, if you don't create jobs for them they will either travel out of town during the day to work and just come here to sleep or sit in there homes all day not spending. They may visit the eateries, but there are plenty of these in the town already based in existing Victorian /Edwardian buildings with a bit of character. That's why they come here, you can go anywhere to sit in a shopping centre to have lunch behind a sheet of plate glass. There is no need to open up the river Wye it is open most of its route for people to sit by and have lunch at both ends Serpentine, Pavilion Gardens, Ashwood park. If it was opened up it wouldn't be long before it was full of litter and debris with vermin coming out into the shops Put some money into renovating existing shops it can be done, there are loads of decaying empty space in these. All we really need here is some good shops, leisure facilities, toilets and parking, if you get businesses, shops and leisure (these are endless), to come the people and families will follow. I mean look at Bakewell the trade they attract is possibly too much for the residence, but they seem to know how to do it without all this unnecessary work [Page 2]
