This application differs greatly from the plans put forward for consultation last year. It has degenerated into a town centre housing development with no affordable housing and no council housing as recently promised by our new Prime Minister. Amenities for the current population have been downgraded to allow for a huge increase in the number of housing units and the reduction in parking will affect elderly and disabled residents. Alternative parking on the other side of the bypass is not acceptable either for safety reasons or for traffic flow concerns. Building materials and design features have been downgraded with the disappearance of roof gardens, green walls, arched windows and copper cladding. The designs submitted are not suitable for the Buxton environment and will tower over existing historic buildings. The sheer number of new housing units does not take into account the already overstretched services such as schools and doctor's surgeries.
