I strongly object to these plans for many reasons; The general design of the scheme is not in keeping with Buxton and is more suited to a city! The loss of retailers such as Next , where i have worked for the last 23 years is down for demolition according to the plans with no suitable alternative to move to. At present we occupy 4725sq footage of retail space . We are a really busy and profitable store and Next as a company do not want to leave Buxton! Over 20 jobs will be lost at Next if no suitable replacement retail space is found. Waitrose customers do not want to push a shopping trolley uphill to a car park near the station and traffic will be worse than ever if these plans go ahead. These plans will turn Buxton into a ghost town with people avoiding the area for years if work was to start and then probably end up not getting finished. The planned housing situation is just ridiculous and certainly not meant for local people with only Capital and Centric benefitting from it. Please put local Buxton people first.
