Objection

The original brief of this development was to regenerate the town centre, not to build over 300 apartments of a modernistic design mo re in keeping in a city, for rental only, with limited parking. They appear to be not in any way in keeping with existing Buxton architecture, which very much define this beautiful Spa town. Even McDonald's, one of the more recent additions to Buxton, was built to blend in, along with the McCarthy & Stone retirement homes. I do not think the needs of local people and businesses has been considered at all. The loss of the main car park would make the town centre less accessible for locals, visitors and especially the elderly and those with mobility issues. If the proposal centred on encouraging new businesses/shops to set up in Buxton and included making improvements to The Springs shopping centre, I would be more supportive of the project. In its present form, it appears to be only focused on rental housing, without delivering the town centre regeneration that the people of Buxton can be proud of.
