Objection

I'm not in favour of the submitted plans for Buxton re development on 3 main points - 1)appearance of new buildings- they show no reflection of the magnificent current buildings of the town, infact they could be any new town- but Buxton isn't a new town and there should be an element of the new buildings that reflect that. 2)Parking- it's very idealist to imagine that we can become a car free area, as there is not a good enough public transport system -( the current proposed closure of the 'cat and fiddle' demonstrates this, there is only a bus to both Leek and Macclesfield, no trains, so add a convoluted diversion thro' villages and out of the way, people will understandably take to their cars at a time and route that suits better )- a car provides convenience and parking near your intended destination especially if heavy items/young children are a factor, and of course the weather -it's Buxton - it rains alot. I think you've thought we want less cars therefore that's it-no parking needed- you need to consider peoples lives and how they live them now. 3) Housing , the initial plan was for for under 100 new accommodations , this seems to have changed dramatically - and again assuming most wont have cars? unrealistic. And they are mostly for rent is this for a transient work force ? Certainly not for people looking to put down roots - because where will they register at a doctors/dentist /school their children? No handy hospital for the unforeseen and if you need to access a hospital - you'll need a car but they haven't got one because no where to park - all very unrealistic
