initially propose 75 residential properties, then increase this to over 300 is unreasonable, given the size of the site and it's location in an already small town with very few facilities for the people who already live here. The spa town of Buxton has a rich history of tourism, some of the blocks look hideously modern, and not in keeping with the towns heritage. The construction in itself would cause chaos for local residents, tourists and local businesses, with inadequate parking, busier roads, and reduced footfall. We should be supporting independent businesses already in the town, not making things harder for them, so that they struggle to stay open. Buxton has several peak times during the year for special events/holidays, such as the summer festival period. These are popular with locals and tourists, if people struggle to get in and out of town, and/or park they just won't come. Thus our economy will suffer. Accesibility to the town is already difficult for those with health and mobility problems and disabilities, and the plans seem to only make things harder for these groups of people. Moving parking further away from the centre will send them elsewhere to do their errands and shopping. Locals want to spend their money locally! A huge influx of new residents to the town, would also put greater stress on health and social care, education and public transport etc, all of which are already woefully inadequate for current residents. If you put 300+ residential units in, you need 300+ parking spaces for new residents (and their visitors) AND much more parking for locals and tourists, WITH good provision of disabled bays very close to amenities/facilities. I dont feel that this proposal is right for the lovely town of Buxton, its residents, or it's business, who will all suffer during lengthy construction and disruption. Even block 1 (30 flats), block 2 (59 flats), and block 3 (30) flats seems too many in my opinion.
