The plans wrt housing and car parking have changed considerably since the public consultation a number of months ago. Waitrose attracts a number of shoppers into the town and they won't be coming into Buxton and spending money in other shops if they can't park close to Waitrose. The design needs to be in keeping with our existing original architecture. Town planners and architects in the 60/70/80s had no fore thought as to the heritage that this wonderful gem of a town has. The town needs to attract and support small businesses, the big companies can be accessed online and every high street looks the same when there's lots of corporate shops, hospitality venues. Buxton should be setting itself apart so it doesn't just look like any other high street. We have a high number of visitors during the festivals. We need a town that will attract them again and again.
