Development of the town centre is not something I am opposed to, but this development is not sympathetic towards Buxton's natural heritage and architecture. Retaining some of Buxton's natural charm as a tourist spa town would be much more appropriate. I would ask the developers to consider a plan more in-keeping with the values and heritage of the town, rather than modern construction. It has not adequately considered the additional parking necessary to facilitate such a development, and makes parking for locals who work and live near the town centre difficult in an already saturated space. I am also concerned regarding rent prices for local businesses in the commercial areas of the development; could we be pushing our small independent businesses out of the town centre, thus making us another town of chain retail stores.
