I am dismayed by the project on several levels. First is the presumption that 332 new housing units will somehow help the town, while the 'rent only' scheme appears to primarily benefit only the developer. It would be better to have some units available for purchase, and some for low-income families to increase home ownership, but the number of new housing units is far too high and out of scale. An addition, though it's almost impossible to find here, it appears that the town will ultimately lose parking when we actually need an increase. If one of the project goals is to bolster economic growth in Buxton, then surely a better plan for parking is essential. Lastly, I have to add that the proposed architecture is uninspired and far too 'institutional' in design, and looks completely out of place here. This proposal is not good for Buxton and you (we) still have an opportunity and an obligation to make changes before this goes further.
