I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed redevelopment of The Springs Shopping Centre. I note that there appears to be a coordinated campaign of objections. It saddens me that a certain section of the local population is content with the status quo. I fail to see how anyone could be anything other than excited at the prospect of this development. Buxton is a unique and historic spa town with enormous potential, but it is widely recognised that The Springs site, in its current form, no longer serves as the vibrant gateway and town centre destination that residents, businesses and visitors deserve. The current unimaginative design of the springs is a blot on the landscape that should never have been approved in the first place. The plans strike an appropriate balance between regeneration and respect for Buxton's heritage. I particularly welcome the intention to create new retail space and homes, improve connectivity between the railway station and the town centre, and introduce high-quality public spaces that make better use of the river, which is after all why the town was established. These improvements have the potential to significantly enhance the attractiveness, accessibility and economic vitality of the town centre. I believe this redevelopment presents a significant opportunity to strengthen Buxton's economy, attract investment, support local businesses and create a more architecturally vibrant and welcoming town centre for future generations. For these reasons, I fully support the application and encourage the Council to grant planning permission. [Page 2]
