Having seen some general information on this proposed redevelopment I would like to express disappointment at the proposal. It would appear to involve replacement of the existing town centre and shops mainly with apartment blocks rather than creating a general space for shopping and leisure. Our museum and art gallery which should be a central feature of cultural life does not appear to get a mention. It's been shut for months having had a large amount of money wasted on the refurbishment of it's previous location. Similarly our poor quality library is buried away on Kent's Bank Road when it needs to be central with a modern appealing layout. The council seems to want to back Buxton as "a town of culture" but culture should exist all year round not just for the 3 or 4 weeks of a summer festival. Buxton has the opportunity to both display it's history as a spa town and modernise the existing shopping centre in a manner sympathetic to the existing architecture
