This is NOT the scheme that was previously the subject of public consultation. The differences are significant, to the point that the original consultation has become pointless and utterly meaningless. In particular, the nature of the scheme is completely different, with FAR more housing, significantly less parking and less retail space. In addition the quality of the proposed buildings has been reduced, both in terms of materials (cheap powder coated steel and buff bricks replacing copper and natural stone) and design features (replacing roof gardens with a sea of cheap flat roof covering). This is a poor profit-lead design that could be anywhere, it is certainly not worthy of a town with a rich history like Buxton. The District Council should be ashamed to be associated with this application, which should be referred for independent and proper scrutiny by being called in.
